Scripture

Ephesians 6:10-12

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

The Story

Paul does not say: be careful. He says: be strong — in the Lord and in his mighty power.

This is the language of a soldier being sent into a fight, not a civilian being warned to stay indoors. The armor of God is not a defensive posture for someone trying to avoid conflict. It is equipment for someone who has already been deployed — someone who is in the rooms, carrying the truth, and now encountering the full weight of the opposition that truth always generates.

The reason Paul gives for the armor is precise and important. The struggle is not against flesh and blood. The difficult colleague, the hostile culture, the room that does not want what you carry — these are not the enemy. They are the visible face of something operating in the unseen. A person who understands this fights differently. They are not angry at the people in front of them. They are clear-eyed about the forces behind them. And they do not flinch.

The Way Before You

The week has moved outward — into the rooms, with grace and salt, ready to answer, covering the distance, replenished every morning. Friday names what you are actually walking into.

You are not walking into a neutral space. You are walking into contested ground. The rooms where the gospel is needed are the rooms where the gospel is opposed — not always loudly, not always visibly, but consistently. The opposition is real. The fight is real. And the person who does not understand that will be surprised by what they encounter and underprepared for what it requires.

Paul's instruction is not to retreat when the room pushes back. It is to be strong. To put on the full armor. To stand — and having done everything, to stand. But standing in Ephesians 6 is not passive. It is the posture of someone who has taken territory and will not give it back. The person who stands firm in a room that wants them to leave is advancing the kingdom every minute they remain.

The fight is real. The power is greater. Go in strong.

Reflection

Where in your life is the opposition most intense right now — and are you approaching it with the full strength of the Lord or with your own diminishing reserves?

Prayer

Lord, I have been in the rooms this week. I have felt the resistance — some of it visible, some of it beneath the surface. You told me this was coming. You told me the struggle is not against flesh and blood, and you gave me everything I need to stand in it. Make me strong — not in my own resolve, but in your mighty power. Send me back into the rooms with the full armor on. I will not retreat. I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Walking in The Way — Today's Step ⭐

Today I will: Go back into the room where the resistance has been strongest this week — not to manage it, but to stand in it with the full strength of the Lord.

I will watch for: The moment I mistake the person in front of me for the enemy — and let that be the signal to remember: the struggle is not against flesh and blood, and I am equipped for what it actually is.
