Wednesday, April 22, 2026 | Hidden With Christ
Colossians 3:1-3
"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God."
Paul does not say: try to be raised with Christ. He says: you have been raised with Christ.
The resurrection is not only something that happened to Jesus. It is something that happened to you. The old life died — Paul said so on Monday. The new life is alive — Christ living in you. And here Paul goes one step further: that new life is hidden with Christ in God.
Hidden. Not visible, not vulnerable, not at the mercy of whatever the day brings. Secured in the safest place in the universe — inside the life of God himself.
The instruction that flows from this is not a striving. It is an alignment. Set your hearts on things above. Set your minds on things above. Not as a discipline of willpower, but as the natural orientation of a person who understands where their life actually is.
There is a version of Wednesday that feels very far from the resurrection. The meeting that went badly. The relationship that is strained. The work that is not going anywhere. The news that arrived and changed the day. The fatigue that settled in somewhere around Tuesday afternoon and has not lifted.
Colossians 3 does not pretend Wednesday isn't real. It locates Wednesday inside a larger reality. Your life — the actual, real, irreducible you — is hidden with Christ in God. Whatever is happening in the visible world today cannot reach what is secured in the invisible one.
This is not escapism. It is orientation. A person whose life is hidden with Christ in God does not float above their circumstances — they stand in them differently. The heart set on things above is not a heart that ignores earthly things. It is a heart that sees earthly things from the right vantage point: passing, temporary, and unable to threaten what has already been secured.
Set your heart there today. Not as a religious exercise. As the most accurate response to where your life actually is.
What is threatening to dominate your Wednesday — and what would it look like to see it from the vantage point of a life hidden with Christ in God?
Lord, my life is hidden with Christ in you. Not someday — now. Whatever is pressing on me today cannot reach what you have secured. Help me set my heart and mind on things above — not to escape what is in front of me, but to see it from the right place. I am raised with Christ. I will stand in this Wednesday from that reality. I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
Today I will: Name the one thing that is threatening to dominate my Wednesday — and choose to see it from the vantage point of a life that is already hidden with Christ in God.
I will watch for: The moment I start treating the visible circumstances as the final word — and let that be the signal to remember: your life is not there. It is hidden with Christ in God.
